Get answers to your top questions about the ChargePoint Clean Fuels Program
Any ChargePoint customer operating charging stations in BC can participate in the Clean Fuels Program. Any location other than residential or apartments and condos with less than five units is eligible.
The number of credits generated under the BC-LCFS regulation varies, depending on the carbon intensity of the underlying electricity and the compliance standard for gasoline or diesel fuel in a compliance year.
In general, the more charging you provide each year, the more credits you will generate. Credit prices are determined by supply and demand in the credit market and can fluctuate. In 2021, for example, credit prices ranged from $85 to $495 per credit, which translates to roughly 7.5 cents to 44 cents per kWh.
The ChargePoint Clean Fuels Program helps simplify the program and protects participants from volatility in the credit market by negotiating core market pricing. In other words, we can limit price volatility and deliver more predictable revenues.
As a leading global EV charging solution provider, ChargePoint has extensive experience managing more charging assets in LCFS programs in North American markets than any other company. To date, ChargePoint has credited over 200,000 MWh of EV load under LCFS programs and monetized $30 million worth of credits since 2015.
By fueling EVs with your charging station you can earn revenue from the credits generated from your annual charging activity. This revenue can be used to help you expand your EV charging deployment or offset costs, such as monthly ChargePoint as a Service® (CPaaS®) fees.
ChargePoint has the expertise and scale to optimize value creation under the BC-LCFS regulation and can make the enrollment process simple and easy.
